Kodiak Flex Bow Tent

I just bought a Kodiak Flex Bow tent at Cabelas. I did alot of research looking for a tent that was canvas with some size, height and durability to it. As I mentioned, we settled on the Kodiak Flex Box 10' X 14'. If easy setup is your game plan, then this is the canvas tent for you. An innovative pole design using a heavy-duty galvanized-steel tube frame makes it simple for one person to put this tent up. Believe it, I can put this baby up in a few minutes after some practice. The 6-oz. cotton-duck canvas construction is made with a Hydra-Shield™ protectant to keep rain and moisture out while letting the fabric breathe. The tent comes with an attached large awning, an adjustable gear loft, accessory pockets and a storage bag that attaches to the tent via cinch straps. The near-vertical tent walls maximize the interior area, and the spacious 6'6" ceiling height. Circulation is improved by four large No-See-Um mesh windows and two large D-shaped doors with YKK® zippers. 16-oz. polyester-reinforced vinyl floor and heavy-duty 12" steel rod stakes. If you don't care about weight you have 2 sizes to chose from. 10 ft. x 10 ft. with a 72" x 78" awning. Weight: 68 lbs. 10 ft. x 14 ft. with a 86" x 78" awning. Weight: 79 lbs. Like I said earlier, I did look over a lot of tents for the family style camping (car camping). I read every review out in cyberspace. Most mentioned you should spend the extra money and get the bigger tent. Now that I have a couple weeks under this tent I have found a few comments to pass along. This tent for the most part needs to be set-up on flat as you can get ground. Any dramatic terrain changes will cause the flex bow rubber end tips to pop free. This causes the corner grommets they run through to be useless. I did some simple modification to fix this issue. I used some rubber tubing that slipped very tight on to the flex bow rods. This is really a minor issue but the tent did overall perform as I expected. I live in the high desert so we kinda expect some dramatic weather patterns like high winds with rain. High winds are those blaster that come before the storm. My Kodiak Flex Bow held its ground to well over 50 mile hour winds and thunder storm with hail. I am satisfied with the overall construction of the tent.

Eureka Tent Review

Looking for tents? It can be confusing trying to find the best tents with so many tents and web sites to choose from.

We have been investigating this market for some time now, and after careful research, trial and error, we have chosen a Eureka tent as the best value in tents today.

We currently own several Eureka tents (Timberline 6, Tetragon 9 & 5) for our use in Scouting, Search and Rescue events.

Why do we like Eureka tents? First it is the best value in its price ranges and size selections. We also think the variety and availability is second to none.

This month we used a new Eureka Tetragon 5 tent right from the box for a wilderness training event at a mountain base camp at 7,500 ft. Yes, right from the box without any sealing! Of course, I took and setup another tent that was trip ready for the event just-in-case. As the story goes, after arriving it rained and hailed for the next 3 days and nights. We would not recommend you take a tent and use it right from the box, because so many thing can be an issue. Take your new tent out at home and inspect it by putting it up following the manufacturer instructions. Make sure you have all the parts required. If you have all the parts, set it up and look at the fabric materials for major or minor defects. If you find major issues go back to the store for return instructions. Minor fabric issues like pin holes can be corrected using a manufacturer recommended seam sealer. Not all sealers are a like so know what sealer you need. Damage or reduced life expectancy of the tent can occur if you use the wrong sealer product.

We are extremely impressed with the reputation of Eureka tents like the Tetragon and Timberline models and the fact that we stayed dry for so many days. Leave nothing to chance, this is your shelter from the elements. Be safe and enjoy! Where can you find tents?
